Good luck is always a good term to know. It brings in hope and optimistic view of life. good luck charms are believed to be a protection for those who own it and are also believed to bring in loads of luck. There are around 50 good luck symbols which are engraved into amulets. These amulets are similar to talismans and are represented in the form of gems, plants, animals, magical spells, statues, coins and drawings. They are either worn as a pendant or a finger ring or stored in the household to bring in luck and on the other hand protect the owner from trouble.
Forms of good luck charms
Amulets are treated as religious objects. One of the symbols is a clover which symbolizes good luck and is also a representation the Christian Trinity. The good luck charms are classified under categories and it varies for each person within the family. Some of the insects which are known for good luck are lady bugs, crickets, dragonflies, scarabs. Images of cricket are believed to ward off evil and in the Chinese and Asian cultures a cricket is considered to be a watch dog. Ladybugs are the harbingers of prosperity and help wade through day to day problems. On the other hand killing a ladybug is prone to bring in bad luck. Dragonflies represent the dream state and symbols of purity. Scarab is a symbol of rebirth and transformation.
According to the ancient folklore the natures good luck charms are acorns, rainbows and eggs. There are talisman pins which can be bought online which represent the good luck charms. The lucky animal totems are considered to be sacred like the dolphins, pigs, tortoises, turtles, elephants, red bats, tigers and the ever famous frogs. Rabbits foot and alligators teeth are an exception and only these parts of their body are considered to bring luck to the common man and the gamblers.
Legendary luck
Superstition supersedes the good luck charms and some legends are believed to be bringers of good luck. Buddha, Kachinas, chimney sweeps and Saint Christopher provide good harvests and protection from natural disasters. The antler of the dream catcher based on the legend with raised Native American feathers helps in remembering good dreams. There are many other tokens of luck which are objects like pot of gold, horseshoe, coins and some lucky numbers.
All the good luck charms only promote hope and a sign of optimism. This helps one to overcome all the fears and lead a harmonious life.
